For some time now we are shopping for new pet carriers

and show tanks for small rodent shows.

 The current plastic ones need replacing  and are no

longer adequate. In some countries i.e. Germany these

plastic carriers don’t meet the legal requirements

anymore and can only be  used taped with paper

or newspapers. Due to increasing political

pressure they will, in time, no longer be allowed in

the Netherlands as well.

We all know the discussion and commotion about the

so-called  ‘positive’ list and the intention starting

November 1^st to monitor the rules regarding the  care and

accommodation of show animals at animal events more

accurately  and consistently, as is the case

in other European countries.

Anticipating these developments the RCR designed a number

of carriers, of which the smallest one is particularly suitable

as show tank for all small rodents as well. They are strong,

 yet light weighted and because the used materials are aluminium,

composite  sheet and very strong mesh, also ’gnaw-proof’.

The animals can’t see each other, but the spectators have

a spacious view, as was the intention of the new rules. The

dimensions of the carriers meet the requirements

of the KLN and RCR.

As shown in the pictures the show tanks fit perfectly into

the standard ANWB folding carts and on the standard show

tables too. Finally we point out the aesthetics and comfort:

when participating shows, your carrier is also your show tank.

 At RCR shows the smallest pet carrier, also

known as “The Rattonia carrier” will be used as the

standard show tank for small rodents.

For obvious reasons the current show tanks will be allowed

to be used for the coming years as long as tolerated

by the legal authorities and RCR will provide her

subscribers without suitable show tanks, with the

current tanks during the transition period.

In the meantime the RCR has teamed up with

a professional aviary/cage builder and realised the

production of our pet carriers. Built at the cage factory

they can be ordered and bought at RCR.
